Our group, the solid earth physics lab at Tohoku University, started DAS observation in 2019 and has ever conducted temporary DAS observations along a few roads in Japan. We aim to improve the spatial resolution of seismic hazard estimations. In this presentation, I will introduce the results of two studies: One is estimating S-wave site amplification factors by using observed amplitudes of local earthquakes. The other is estimating shallow S-wave velocity structures down to a depth of about 100 m using traffic-induced surface waves.
