American Geophysical Union (AGU), the world’s largest scientific organization in geosciences, selects only a small number of fellows each year to recognize their excellent research achievements and outstanding academic leadership. Dr. Sun-Lin Chung, a world-renowned geochemist, is one of the new fellows this year.
Dr. Sun-Lin Chung has made significant contributions to igneous petrogenesis, chemical geodynamics, East-Asian magmatism tectonics. He is currently the Director of the Institute of Earth Sciences and an Academician of Academia Sinica. He was one of the highly cited scientists worldwide in 2016, 2017 and 2019, as well as an elected TWAS member in 2018.
The AGU has more than 60,000 professional members. The qualification for being selected as a fellow is very strict, only one-thousandth of the number of professional members of the current year. In December this year, the AGU will honor the academic visions and outstanding achievements of the new fellows at the AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco.
