Several
field trips will be organized to sites of volcanological and geological
interest:
Wednesday, 25. April: Morning: Visiting the Tatun Volcanic Group, which is currently being monitored for potential magmatic reactivation. Active fumarole and solfatara fields will be part of this tour, led by local volcanologists from Academia Sinica and National Taiwan University. Afternoon: Travel to Eastern Taiwan, overnight in Hualien.
Thursday, 26. April: Field
trip to sites of volcanological and geological interests in the scenic
Coastal Range, an accreted island arc (Neogene Luzon Arc). Overnight in Hualien.
Friday, 27. April: Visiting the famous Taroko Gorge, and return to Taipei. ![]() Ta-Yiou-Keng, the biggest fumarole in the TVG |
